Almaty, Beijing submit candidature bids to host 2022 Olympics
China and Kazakhstan have submitted candidature files for their cities, Beijing and Almaty, to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), in a bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, RIA Novosti reported referring to the statement of the Olympic Movement website.
Almaty and Beijing, which are the only candidates for the 2022 Games, compiled their bids in accordance with the Olympic Agenda 2020, which aims to make the games cheaper and attract more visitors.

The bids will be evaluated with regard to criteria such as the candidates` vision, legacy and engagement, transport, accommodation, finance and sustainability.

"Today is an important day for the Olympic Winter Games in 2022 because we will now have the opportunity to see the vision of the two Candidate Cities. For the Candidate Cities, it is a unique opportunity to present their ideas about the organisation of the Olympic Winter Games, and for us a moment that we have been looking forward to for some time," IOC President Thomas Bach was quoted as saying on the Olympic Movement website.

The host city will be chosen at the 128th session of the International Olympic Committee in Kuala Lumpur on July 31, following full presentations by the candidates.
