The list of candidates submitted by Azerbaijan for the post of an ECHR judge was discussed at the committee meeting in Paris Sept. 29.
According to the results of discussions, the committee recommended with an overwhelming majority, the candidature of L. Huseynov as "the most qualified candidate."
It is expected that the selection of judges to the ECHR will take place in the framework of the PACE autumn session on October 11-12.
The candidates of thee judges – Kamalya Abiyeva, Latif Huseynov and Rovshan Ismayilov has been confirmed by the Azerbaijani government. In this respect, Emin Eyyubov, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe, has sent a letter to PACE Secretary General Wojciech Sawicki.
List of candidates from Azerbaijan was rejected on June 15, 2015 and January 24, 2016.

The PACE Committee on the Election of Judges to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) recommended Latif Huseynov as a candidate for the post of judge to the ECHR from Azerbaijan, reads a message posted the assembly’s website.
