Terrorist attack prevented in Istanbul
Turkey
Earlier, the special services of Turkey obtained information that the militants of the terrorist organization Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) intend to carry out a terrorist attack in one of the shopping centers of Istanbul.

During a special operation, the security forces detained two PKK militants who had explosives.

On Jan 6 a female suicide bomber blew herself up in Istanbul at the entrance to a police station, located in the historic district of Sultanahmet.

The terrorist attack killed one police officer, and another one was wounded.

At first it was reported that the terror attack was carried out by Elif Sultan Kalsen – a student of one of the country’s universities. But then, Turkey’s Interior Ministry made a statement saying that the citizen of Russia, Diana Ramazanova, who is a native of Dagestan, was that suicide bomber.

Russia’s Consulate General in Istanbul has not yet confirmed the information about the involvement of a Russian citizen in the terrorist attack in Istanbul.
