Afghan president to likely ink security pact with Iran
Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, the President of Afghanistan, will likely sign a security pact with Iran soon.
Nazifullah Salarzai, president Ahmadzai`s spokesman, said the Afghan president will travel to Iran in the near future, Iran’s Fars news agency reported on Jan. 10.

However, the time and date of the trip has not yet been specified.

Afghanistan is planning to sign a strategic deal with Iran to boost cooperation in fighting against terrorism and combating against drugs smuggling.

In August 2013, Afghan President Hamid Karzai signed a strategic cooperation pact with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani covering mainly security issues.
