Anti-terrorist operation held in Istanbul
Istanbul police conduct anti-terrorist operation, the Turkish TV channel Haber7 said Jan.12.
It is reported that the operation is carried out in different districts of the city, and it involves police forces and intelligence services of the country.

Some people were detained during the operation, but their number is not disclosed, said the channel.

Earlier on Jan. 10, Turkey’s security forces prevented two terrorist attacks in one of the shopping centers in Istanbul.

On Jan 6 a female suicide bomber blew herself up in Istanbul at the entrance to a police station, located in the historic district of Sultanahmet.

As a result of the attack, one police officer was killed, another one wounded.
At first it was reported that the terror attack was carried out by Elif Sultan Kalsen – a student of one of the country’s universities. But then, Turkey’s Interior Ministry made a statement saying that the citizen of Russia, Diana Ramazanova, who is a native of Dagestan, was that suicide bomber.

Russia’s Consulate General in Istanbul has not yet confirmed the information about the involvement of a Russian citizen in the terrorist attack in Istanbul.
