Turkey`s top religious body slams Prophet Muhammad film
Presidency of Religious Affairs says Iranian movie Muhammad: The Messenger of God contains historically inaccurate scenes
Turkey`s top religious body Thursday criticized an Iranian movie on Prophet Muhammad, saying some scenes were historically inaccurate.

Directed by Majid Majidi, the 2015 film Muhammad: The Messenger of God recently hit the Turkish theaters, making its debut Oct. 28.

"Some parts and scenes of the movie depart considerably from historical facts and include fictitious elements," the Presidency of Religious Affairs said in a statement, adding the film also contained some elements which were not included in "respected" sources on Islamic history.

"This film demonstrates once more that no script can fully embrace the life of Prophet Muhammad, and any work of literature and art on this subject can only be limited to people`s imagination," it said.

The religious body also dismissed media reports that it endorsed the movie and provided financial support.
