Azerbaijan important for Eastern Partnership, says Lithuania
Azerbaijan is an important country for the Eastern Partnership program, Kestutis Vaskelevicius, media advisor to the Lithuanian foreign minister, told Nov. 4.
“The Lithuanian position is that the support should be for all the Eastern Partnership countries and all Eastern Partnership countries are important,” said Vaskelevicius.

He noted that earlier some media outlets misquoted speech of Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius at the meeting of prime ministers of the Nordic and Baltic countries in Copenhagen on Nov. 2, where he urged to continue support for the Eastern Partnership countries.

“The minister said that these countries should extend their support for Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova and other Eastern Partnership countries,” added the media advisor.

The speech of Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius was posted on the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry’s website.

The Eastern Partnership is a project of the European Union (EU), the main aim of which is the development of integration ties of the EU with six post-Soviet countries: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
