Minister Kemaleddin Heydarov attends Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction
The delegation led by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel General Kemaleddin Heydarov attended the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction held in New Delhi, India on November 3-4, 2016.
The agenda of the conference, jointly organized by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) and the Ministry of Home Affairs of India, includes the monitoring of the Sendai Framework adopted by UN member states in 2015, the discussion of development programs on disaster risk reduction and the approval of mutual action plan.

Following Indian PM Narendra Modi’s opening speech, ministers made their speeches.

Azerbaijani Minister of Emergency Situations Kemaleddin Heydarov spoke about Azerbaijan’s prevention of emergences and elimination of their consequences as well as relations within the UN and affiliated organizations. The minister emphasized the importance of international cooperation for an effective management of disasters.

In the end, a Joint Declaration and an Action Plan within the Sendai Framework were adopted.

The event was followed by a number of meetings with heads of emergencies bodies from different countries

The sides exchanged ideas on issues of mutual interest.
