Azerbaijan completes construction of new railway line from Astara to Iranian border
In accordance with the order of Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev on “Acceleration of works in Azerbaijan section of the North-South International Transport Corridor” dated December 7, 2015, foundation of a railway bridge was laid over Astara River on Azerbaijan-Iran border, construction of a new railway stretching from Astara station to the Iran’s border started.

Azerbaijan Railways spokesperson Nadir Azmammadov told APA-Economics that the new railway line in the length of 8.3 km has reached the railway bridge constructed over the Astara River.

The final completion works are underway on the bridge. Arches and railings are being installed.
