Azerbaijani delegation attends interfaith dialogue conference in Spain
The Azerbaijani delegation first visited the Spanish Senate to meet with its president Pio Garcia-Escudero.
State Adviser Kamal Abdulla hailed the excellent ties between Azerbaijan and Spain. He invited Pio Garcia-Escudero to pay a visit to Azerbaijan.
The President of the Spanish Senate underlined similar values linking the two countries, and emphasized the necessity of developing bilateral relations based on common interests.
He was informed that the Catholic Church was built in Baku and that Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis visited the country.
Following the meeting the Azerbaijani delegation viewed the building of the Spanish Senate and the ancient and rich library here.
The Azerbaijani delegation then visited the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Spain. They met with the Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport Fernando Benzo Sáinz and Secretary General on Universities Jorge Sainz Gonzalez.
State Adviser on Multinational, Multicultural and Religious Affairs, Kamal Abdullayev congratulated the Spanish side on the occasion of the establishment of a new government.
The Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport Fernando Benzo Sáinz hailed the peaceful coexistence of people of different religions in Azerbaijan.
They agreed to consider the teaching of Spanish language at Azerbaijani secondary schools and the subject of multiculturalism at Spanish universities.
They also discussed the teacher and student exchanges between the two countries` universities.
