Two police officers shot in standoff in Idaho state

Two US police officers were shot in the US state of Idaho in a standoff, local police said, Sputnik reported.

According to the media outlet, one of the officers is in surgery and the other one is in the emergency room.

The wanted man was shot and killed in the standoff, the channel reported. He was also wanted for a double shooting earlier in the week.

"We had a serious tragedy in the city of Boise tonight, both for our police department and our community," Boise Police Chief Bill Bones told reporters Friday, as quoted by the KTVB television channel.
