Moscow ready for dialogue with West based on international law
"At present, several Western countries continue the sanction policy towards Russia without thinking about the consequences," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov said
Relations with the West will depend on the readiness to return to an equal dialogue, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov told Xinhua News Agency on Tuesday.

“At present, several Western countries continue the sanction policy towards Russia without thinking about the consequences of such counter-productive and irresponsible line for global policy and economy,” he said.

“In fact, the international community sees that successful economic cooperation and stable business-like relations can fall victim to geopolitical ambitions,” Morgulov said.

The Western partners are the ones who “did not respond to Russia’s calls to form a system of united and indivisible security in the Euro-Atlantic region and to expand mutually advantageous cooperation without artificial barriers and dividing lines,” he said.

“On the contrary, these lines have moved to the East — both through the NATO enlargement and within the Eastern Partnership,” Morgulov said.

Among methods which are now used more frequently, the diplomat named “color revolutions,” “democracy export” and “imposing recipes for reforms without taking into account traditions and national specifics.”

“The well-known events in Ukraine became the highest point of such irrational policy,” he said.

“As for prospects for the development of further interaction with Western partners, they will depend on the West’s readiness to take concrete steps towards returning to an equal and mutually advantageous dialogue. The settlement of the existing disagreements and the return to constructive cooperation are our common interests,” Morgulov said.

Moscow is ready for this, “but exclusively on the principles of equality and mutual benefit and based on international law”, he said.
