North Carolina governor calls for election recount, refuses to concede
North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory has refused to concede his bid for reelection, and is instead calling for a statewide recount, US media reported.
The statement was made by McCrory`s campaign manager Russell Peck in an interview with The Hill on Tuesday.

"With many outstanding votes yet to be counted for the first time, legal challenges, ballot protests and voter fraud allegations, we must keep open the ability to allow the established recount process to ensure every legal vote is counted properly."

McCrory`s Democratic opponent, Roy Cooper, is currently leading in the vote count by more than six thousand votes according to the State Board of Elections. Cooper`s campaign released a statement which said the recount request is a desperate attempt to stay in office.

Cooper has already announced his transition team leaders even though McCrory refuses to concede election defeat.
