Azerbaijani President: There was some progress in talks last year, but Armenia took provocative steps
“The OSCE Minsk group also failed to achieve any result in this regard. There is some action, but no result”

Turkey’s position on the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict of Nagorno-Karabakh remains unchanged. In this regard, Turkey supports justice, truth, international law, and its brother,” said President Ilham Aliyev at a press conference after his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.

The president said Azerbaijani lands which are recognized by the international community have been under occupation for years.

“The world’s number one organization, the UN Security Council, has passed 4 resolutions that demand the withdrawal of occupying Armenian forces from those lands. But these resolutions remain unfulfilled. It means that Armenia does not seek peace. It’s sad that the OSCE Minsk Group also failed to achieve any result in this regard. There is some action, but no result,” he underlined.

The president stressed that some progress were made in the talks last year, but Armenia took provocative steps, especially held large-scale exercises in November in the occupied territories, including Agdam region.

“At the time of the attack on Azerbaijani positions, the Armenian armed forces were given an adequate response. However, this doesn’t positively affect the negotiation process. This conflict can only be resolved within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Nagorno-Karabakh is Azerbaijan’s ancient territory, and Azerbaijan will restore its sovereignty and territorial integrity. We must be stronger to achieve this”, President Aliyev added.
