President Ilham Aliyev extends condolences to Turkish counterpart
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has extended condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the fatal fire in a dormitory in Turkey.
“Dear Mr. President and my dear brother, we’re stricken by the news of deaths and injuries that resulted from a fire in a girls` dormitory in the Aladagh district of Adana Province," President Aliyev said in his letter of condolences.

"On my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan, I extend my heartfelt condolences to you, the families of those killed and the people of Turkey, and wish the injured a fast recovery. May Allah have mercy on those killed," said the Azerbaijani president.

Twelve people, including eleven children, were killed in a fire that destroyed a girls dormitory in southern Turkey.

Turkey`s EU Affairs Minister, Omer Celik said at least twenty-two other girls were injured in the fire in the province of Adana. Among those killed was a female caretaker who worked in the dormitory.

The private dormitory housed 34 middle and high school students, according to officials.
