New cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed have been published in the media of France and several other countries in recent days.
Following the publishing of these cartoons, Islamists attacked the office of French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo magazine on Jan.7. Some 12 people – 9 employees of the magazine and two police officers guarding the building – were killed and 11 more were injured as a result of this attack.
