Turkish MFA condemned the decision giving justification to Hampig Sassunyan, ASALA terrorist who assassinated Mr Kemal Arıkan, the Turkish Consul-General to Los Angeles in a heinous attack on January 28, 1982.

Azerbaijan is one of the target countries for ASALA. What is Azerbaijani MFA`s attitude toward the issue?

`ASALA terror organization and its subgroups such as `Orli Group`, `Geqaron`, `Armenian Union`, `Youth Armenian Union`, `9 June group`, `Assassination squadron` and `Apostle` perpetrated a series of cruel attacks on Turkish diplomats and businessmen`, Hikmat Hajiyev, spokesman of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told in his response to AzVision.az`s questions.

- ASALA replaced its Middle East, Northern American and Europe operation zones with Southern Caucasus ones. Armenian terrorist organizations and intelligence agencies committed more than 32 terrorist attacks on the transport system and other public facilities in Azerbaijan, which is an integral part of the territorial claims of Armenia against Azerbaijan, killing thousands of innocent civilians.

The civilian attacks in Baku subway was a series of terrorist incidents, March 19 and July 3 1994. The first attack was perpetrated at the "20 January" metro station, while the second one took place between the "28 May" and "Ganjlik" stations. As a result of the first attack, 14 people were killed and 49 wounded. The second attack resulted in the death of 13 people and 42 more were injured. Armenians carried out terror attacks in Madrid and London subways ten years later.

ASALA and its `Aramo` and `Arabo` subgroups had directly participated in the Khojaly Genocide and bloody ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijan. One of the ASALA leaders, Monte Melkonian is a national hero of Armenia. There is a monument and street named after him in Yerevan. Melkonian`s terror activities are included in textbooks of the Armenian secondary schools as `heroism chronicle`.

The Armenian terrorist organization ASALA spread information on its possible terrorist acts against the members of diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan in 2011 and 2013.

When the situation on the contact line of Armenian and Azerbaijani troops escalated with Armenian provocation in early April, 2016, ASALA terrorists gathered and raised the ASALA flag on the contact line again.



Today ASALA continues its actions through integration into the Armenian Special Service Bodies and the Army coalitions. Azerbaijan harshly condemns terrorism in all its forms and terrorism must not be justified in any case.
