Russia, Turkey, Iran not discussing Assad fate
The reconciliation group of Russia, Iran and Turkey is focusing on more pressing issues than the fate of Syrian President Bashar Assad in its discussions, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Thursday.
“The subject mentioned [Assad] is not being discussed at the moment, there are more urgent affairs,” Ryabkov told RIA Novosti.

The foreign ministers of Russia, Iran and Turkey adopted a joint statement on Tuesday to revive the political process to end the conflict in Syria.

There is no secret agenda on Syria, Ryabkov said. “The only agenda that exists and can exist for us - I hope that Turkey and Iran share it - is to find ways to stabilize and improve the humanitarian situation, to prevent new complications and further suffering for residents of the country,” he said.
