Tsunami warning issued after powerful quake hits South Chile
A tsunami warning has been issued after a powerful earthquake hit southern Chile.
According to US Geological Survey (USGS) preliminary data, a 7.6-magnitude eathquake hit southern regions of Chile at 14:22 UTC on Sunday. Earlier, the USGS reported that the magnitude of the quake is 7.7.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami warning for areas within 1,000 kilometers of the epicenter of the earthquake.

The quake struck near the coast of Los Lagos, 40 kilometers southwest of Puerto Quellon in Chile, its depth is some 33 kilometers.

There were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries as a result of the quake. Earlier in the day, a 5.4-magnitude quake struck northern Chile near the border with Bolivia.
