Tension on contact line increases number of deserters in Armenian armed forces
The tension on the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian armies has led to the increase in the number of servicemen voluntarily leaving Armenian armed forces, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry told on Jan.24.
Nikolay Martirosyan, a conscript from Armenia and a soldier of one of the Armenian military units located in Azerbaijan’s occupied territories, slashed his wrists as he was unable to stand the humiliation and violence by the colleagues, according to the latest data.

“Another fact: a soldier Vahan Shahayan, being unable to get through the difficulties of the military service, hurled himself down a high cliff,” Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said, adding that the soldier survived and was rushed to a medical center of the regiment.

“Another Armenian soldier, unable to withstand the deplorable situation in the unit, tried to cross the line of contact. However, his colleagues shot him and hastily buried in a defensive post," said Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry.
