TANAP strengthens grievance redress mechanism
The consortium of Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) project has set up Appeals Committees in order to bring credibility to the grievance redress process.
TANAP reported that the Appeals Committees are comprised of independent members who are not associated with the project`s implementation.

The Committees will meet at least once a month or more often depending on the number and frequency of complaints made directly to them.

The mandate of each committee covers considering complaints on which TANAP and the affected people could not reach an agreement on the following issues, but excluding Turkish Labor Law and Expropriation Law: project`s activities induced damage to environment, public assets and infrastructure, private assets (lands, crops, houses etc.) and project`s activities induced impacts on livelihood.

TANAP project envisages transportation of gas from Azerbaijan`s Shah Deniz field to the western borders of Turkey. The length of TANAP is 1,800 kilometers with the initial capacity of 16 billion cubic meters. Around six billion cubic meters of the gas will be delivered to Turkey and the remaining volume will be supplied to Europe.

The gas will be delivered to Turkey in 2018 and after completion of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline`s construction the gas will be delivered to Europe in early 2020.

TANAP shareholders are Azerbaijan`s state oil company SOCAR (58 percent), BOTAS (30 percent) and BP (12 percent).
