FIFA receives applications for president
The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has received four applications from four nominees for the organization
On the list there are the incumbent FIFA president, Joseph Blatter, Prince Ali bin al-Hussein, of Jordan, head of the Dutch football union Michael van Praag, and also winner of the 2001 Golden Ball, Luis Figo.

After each candidate has been scrutinized FIFA’s electoral commission will meet again to look into whether the applications agree with the rules of procedure, for instance if this or that candidate enjoys support from at least five national federations and involvement in football activities at least for two of the past five years.

In the future the electoral commission will recognize the candidates formally and name those who have the right to contest FIFA’s presidency. The final list will be disclosed precisely one month before the election, on April 29.

The election procedure will take place at the FIFA congress in Zurich, Switzerland, on May 29.
