At least 20 others reportedly fled into Burkinabe territory. It was not immediately known which militant group attacked the post and whether the attackers had been caught by Sunday night.
Mali has recently seen a surge in jihadist attacks, which reach deep into country’s territory beyond their usual strongholds in the north. One of the deadliest attacks occurred in January when a suicide bomber from an Al Qaeda-affiliated group blew up himself in a military camp in northern Mali, killing up to 60 and wounding over 100 people.
