Armenian defense minister concerned about deplorable situation in army

Armenian defense minister concerned about deplorable situation in army

Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan held an emergency meeting in connection with the death of a serviceman in one of the training military units in Yerevan, the Armenian Defense Ministry said, Armenia Today reported.

Major General Aleksan Alexanyan reported about the results of the official investigation, carried out to examine and clarify all circumstances of the incident.

After reviewing the case, Ohanyan said that vicious manners resulting from inconsistent work of some officers and their neglecting the duties caused the crime.

The deputy chiefs of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, heads of departments, representatives of law enforcement agencies attended the meeting.

A serviceman of one of Yerevan’s training military units Haykaz Barseghyan was found hanged on January 29.
