Davutoglu notes importance of moving Turkey to presidential form of government
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu stressed the importance of the country`s transition to a presidential form of government, Turkish Haber7 TV channel reported Feb. 5.
"This issue has been discussed for ten years," Davutoglu said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was then prime minister, said on the eve of the presidential election in August 2014 that Turkey must pass to the presidential form of government.

“This can benefit the country’s further development,” he said.

President Erdogan said that the issue will be raised after the presidential election.

At present, the legislative power in Turkey belongs to the unicameral parliament - the Grand National Assembly.
