`Azerbaijan is Latvia`s important potential partner in transport and logistics sector`

Azerbaijan is an important potential partner of Latvia in transport and logistics sector in the South Caucasus region, said Latvian Minister of Transport Uldis Augulis as he met with Azerbaijani ambassador Javanshir Akhundov.

He pointed out great potential for the development of cargo transportation through the North-South transport corridor via Azerbaijan`s territory. We offer Middle East and South Asian countries (Pakistan and India) as well as Iran and Azerbaijan an access to European Union markets through the Baltic Sea, said Augulis.

The two discussed Azerbaijan-Latvia cooperation in the field of transport and communications.

Ambassador Akhundov emphasized that the development of the North-South corridor is among key priorities for Azerbaijan. He stressed the importance of intensifying trade relations between Azerbaijan and Latvia.
