The minister said that a number of companies appealed to the ministry with a request to extend the period of the survey of interests.
“It (the construction of a refinery) is quite a complex project, and they (the companies) asked additional time,” said Kvirikashvili.
It was previously reported that the new refinery in Poti would have a minimum capacity of processing at the level of 2 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The first production of the refinery will be released in early 2019.
