Taiwan Hostage Crisis Ends With Six Inmates Committing Suicide
Six inmates killed themselves 14 hours after seizing firearms and taking several prison guards hostage at a Kaohsiung city jail in Taiwan, the Ministry of Justice said.
The prisoners called their trial unfair demanding to be immediately released.

The hostages, including the warden and the head guard, were released before the inmates committed suicide. They are unharmed.

The leader of the hostage takers was identified as Cheng Li-the. He was serving a 28-year sentence for murder. Other inmates ended up in prison for murder, robbery and drug offenses.
