US congressman: Continuation of cooperation with Azerbaijan necessary to ensure Europe
Congressman Michael Turner issued a statement on making amendments to the protocol of the hearings on Azerbaijan took place at the US Congress held on Feb.12

Congressman Turner, in the statement, noted Azerbaijan’s contribution to energy security in Europe, underlining the importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor.

He also emphasized the importance of continuing the cooperation with Azerbaijan in order to ensure Europe`s energy security and strengthen the regional stability.

Azerbaijan is an important partner of the US in terms of strengthening geopolitical energy security, M. Turner added.

On February 12, the Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats under the US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs held hearings on Azerbaijan. During the hearings on the subject “Azerbaijan: US interests in energy, security and human rights”, former US ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Kauzlarich, researcher at the Woodrow Wilson, International Center for Scholars Audrey Altstadt, director of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute at Johns Hopkins University Svante Cornell delivered their speeches.
