New Russian ambassador to Turkey visits Ankara for special parliamentary session
"New Russia's Ambassador Alexey Erkhov has arrived to Ankara today. Chief of Protocol of Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sevki Mutevellioglu met him at the airport," Leshukov said.
The spokesman added that the copies of the credentials will be submitted on Monday, however, Erkhov would take part in the parliament's meeting at the special invitation of Turkish parliament speaker.
On June 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree appointing Erkhov as the new Russian ambassador to Turkey to replace the late Andrey Karlov, who was fatally shot in December 2016 at the opening of an art gallery exhibition in Ankara.
