Blogger Lapshin meets Israeli diplomats to talk on extradition
The Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan has commented on news about request of blogger Alexander Lapshin’s extradition to Israel, who was sentenced to three years in prison in Azerbaijan, the press service of the embassy told AzVision.az.
Each Israeli citizen is entitled to ask for such a request. However, we cannot disclose the details of meeting of Lapshin with the representatives of the Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan. This is Lapshin's personal affair and we are not able to give further information, the embassy told.

Note, Blogger Alexander Lapshin, who was sentenced to 3 years in prison in Azerbaijan, has requested extradition to Israel, the blogger’s lawyer Eduard Chernin said on July 26.

“Today I met with my client. Lapshin met with representatives of the Israeli Embassy in Azerbaijan and possibly requested from the Embassy to be extradited.”

Lapshin was accused of violating Azerbaijani laws on state border in April 2011 and October 2012. On Jan. 17, Alexei Stuk, deputy prosecutor general of Belarus, issued a ruling on Lapshin’s extradition to Azerbaijan. Lapshin was brought to Azerbaijan on Feb. 7.

On July 20, Lapshin was sentenced to three years in prison by the Baku Grave Crimes Court.
