Modest Kolerov, the Russian political analyst, first class advisor of Russian Federation and editor-in-chief of Russian Regnum agency told Armenian “Jogovurd” newspaper that "it is impossible to realize this project without Azerbaijan’s permission".
“Any negotiations on transportation of Turkmen gas to the Caucasus is not only theoretical, but also symbolic. There is no way other than Azerbaijan to transport gas. We don’t have any project on transportation of Turkmen gas via Iran, because Iran transports Turkmen gas to supply northern parts of its country with gas. All projects envisaging transportation of Turkmen gas pass through the Caspian Sea. Armenia may acquire Turkmen gas via Georgia, but we need Azerbaijan’s consent. In other words, Armenia must hold negotiations with Azerbaijan in order to export Turkmen gas. Is Armenia ready for negotiations?” Kolerov said.
