Mubariz Gurbanli: Azerbaijan to continue preventive measures against activities of radical religious groups
“This is the requirement of the society and the Islamic values we lean on”

“We take and will continue to take preventive measures against the activities of radical religious groups in the country,” said Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Mubariz Gurbanli, commenting on the statement issued by the National Security Ministry in connection with the detention of members of an organized group intending to establish a religious state in the country.

The committee chairman said that Azerbaijan has Islamic values and national traditions.

“We must protect those values that are passed down from generation to generation. President Ilham Aliyev is also doing much to protect these values, and relevant state authorities continue activities as well.

We don’t and won’t allow any radical groups to operate in our country. This is the requirement of the society and the Islamic values we lean on. In recent years, much work has been done to eliminate the activities of radical religious groups in Azerbaijan, and they are yielding results today. Thus, works carried out by the National Security Ministry, ideological organizations produce important results. This fight won’t stop for a moment, and we will continue these activities as long as the activities of radical religious groups are not completely interrupted in the country,” he noted.
