Georgia, Brazil agree on partial visa-free regime
Georgia and Brazil formalized on March 11 an intergovernmental agreement, which introduces a partial visa-free regime between the two countries.
Georgia’s Foreign Ministry said the document was signed on the Georgian side by the foreign minister, Tamar Beruchashvili, the TASS news agency reported.

The ministry said the agreement would come into force after 30 days. It was concluded “through an exchange of notes as a result of coordinated efforts of the two countries.”

The ministry said the document implies exemption from visa for citizens having ordinary (common) passports and willing to visit these two states for tourism or business. Georgia’s citizens will be able to stay in Brazil for 90 days throughout a period of 180 days.

A similar regime will be active for Brazil’s citizens wishing to visit Georgia.

The diplomatic relations between Georgia and Brazil were established on April 28, 1993.

In 2010, Georgia opened its embassy in Brazil, and a year later the Brazilian diplomatic mission started to operate in Tbilisi.
