Caspian states plan to hold joint drills - Lavrov
The Caspian littoral states are planning to hold joint exercises in 2018, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The defense cooperation in the Caspian Sea is at a high level, the top diplomat said at a press conference following the ministerial meeting of the Caspian states in Moscow on Tuesday.

"This year, each of the Caspian littoral states has organized a friendly voyage of their armed forces’ ships to each other’s territory. We have reached an agreement on the implementation of joint promising projects. We discussed the development of transport in different aspects. We have paid attention to economic relations between the five countries,” he said.

Lavrov went on to say that at the initiative of Turkmenistan, work is underway to prepare an intergovernmental agreement on transport and economic cooperation.

“We also emphasized the importance of adopting separate protocols between our law enforcement agencies in the field of combating terrorism, organized crime and anti-piracy,” he noted.
