Robert Walter: Armenia wanted PACE report on Nagorno-Karabakh to be prepared by OSCE MG
The rapporteur of the PACE committee on political affairs and democracy for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Robert Walter, who is in Azerbaijan on a fact-finding mission, met Thursday with members of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE at the Azerbaijani parliament.

Chairman of the International and Interparliamentary Relations Committee and head of the parliamentary delegation to PACE, Samad Seyidov gave thorough information to the gust about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

He opened up concrete facts on the destructive position of Armenia, the aggressor, stressing that the Armenian leadership continues to ignore CoE resolutions on the conflict, like all other resolutions adopted by reliable international organizations, and that President Serzh Sargsyan has described those resolutions as “blank paper”. Mr Seyidov also spoke about double standards demonstrated by the West with regard to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, noting that positions towards the separatists are far from objectivity.

Later on, Mr Walter went on to meet with representatives of political parties represented at the parliament. According to Walter, the preparing of a PACE report on the Nagorno-Karabakh problem and himself being assigned to do the job has drawn much anger from the Armenian side.

“The Armenians wanted this report to be prepared by the OSCE Minsk Group,” he said, adding that justice and humanism will be the main principles in the preparing of the report.

The guest stressed importance of a solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, noting that the norms and principles of international law must be followed in the settlement of the conflict.

Also, the sides exchange ideas on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, international efforts to build global peace and boosting these efforts, and some other issues of mutual interest.
