Azerbaijan may set up special parliamentary group for UN Sustainable Development Goals
Azerbaijan may create a special parliamentary group for the UN Sustainable Development Goals, said Ali Ahmadov, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Coordination Council of Sustainable Development.
He made the remarks at a conference held in the Azerbaijani parliament on the role of parliament in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Ahmadov said he believes the creation of a special parliamentary group will serve as another step towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

“The parliamentary group will contribute to bringing the adopted laws in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and can cooperate with the National Coordination Council for Sustainable Development and other agencies,” he said.

The deputy PM noted that Azerbaijan submit to the UN a report on 231 statistical indicators.

"We have increased the number of statistical indicators from 76 to 130. This indicator in other countries is lower,” said Ahmadov, adding that the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan is working on bringing the number of statistical indicators to 231.
