Over 3,000 security guards to keep Erdogan safe during Vatican visit
 
As many as 3,500 representatives of security forces will keep Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan safe during his visit to Vatican, the Turkish media reported Feb. 2.

As part of his visit to Vatican, Erdogan will also meet with Italian President Sergio Mattarella.

Erdogan will visit Vatican at the invitation of Pope Francis on Feb. 5. This will be the first visit of senior Turkish official to Vatican over the past 59 years at the level of the country’s president.

As part of the visit, it is expected to discuss the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
