Baku to host Italian Design Day
On March 1, Baku will host the Day of Italian Design, which will promote advanced Italian technologies and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy in various areas, Italy’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Augusto Massari told a press conference in Baku on Friday, AzVision.az reports.

Initiated by Italy’s Foreign Ministry, the Day of Italian Design will also be marked in about 100 cities around the world, the envoy said.

According to the envoy, the theme of this year’s event is “Design and Sustainability”.

“This theme is perfectly compatible with the theme – human capital – selected by Azerbaijan for its bid to host EXPO 2025,” he said.

Famous designer Antonio Arico and a member of the Italian Architectural Council will attend the event as special guests, the ambassador announced.

“The Union of Azerbaijani Architects also cooperates with Italy’s Embassy in Baku in organizing the event to be held at the Baku Media Center and Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction,” Ambassador Massari added.

Speaking at the conference, the director of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan, Manuel Tradel, said that the main goal of the event is to present the “Made in Italy” brand.

"Another goal of the event is to improve cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy. Italian design items will be exclusively displayed here. Ferrari, Lamborghini cars and old Italian motorcycles will be presented at the exhibition,” Tradel said.
