Lahue said that NATO`s work to ensure the safety of envisages firstly ensuring the safety of member states. He said that the alliance hadn’t been directly involved in the peaceful resolution of conflicts: “NATO is interested in stability in all countries, especially the neighboring countries. Therefore, we have strong relationships with partners, such as Azerbaijan. We have cooperative activities with Azerbaijan in order to help to spread stability and security. Azerbaijani is strong participant in every NATO partnership activity”.
Answering the question can Azerbaijani show more interest in NATO membership Lahue said that this is the decision that the government of Azerbaijan makes. “Azerbaijan is fully engaged in NATO”.
