Georgia expels Russian diplomat in solidarity with UK

Georgia is expelling one Russian diplomat from the country, a representative of Russia's interests operating at the Swiss embassy in Tbilisi, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday, AzVision.az reports.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia condemns the use of chemical weapons on the territory of the United Kingdom that caused grave human suffering of three individuals and posed serious threat to life and health of others. This represents serious challenge to common security,” reads the statement.

“The Ministry expresses solidarity to the United Kingdom, shares the position of the United Kingdom as well as of international community on this matter and declares a member of the staff of the Russian Federation Interests Section at the Embassy of Switzerland in Tbilisi as a not acceptable person and requests to leave Georgia within 7 days,” the statement says.
