North Korea to close Punggye-ri nuclear test site in May

North Korean authorities will close the Punggye-ri nuclear test site in May and its dismantling process will be public, says the statement of the South Korea’s presidential office, AzVision.az reports citing Yonhap news agency.

Such an agreement was reached during summit talks between leaders of North and South Korea on April 27, the news agency reports. Security experts and journalists will be invited to attend the event.

On Friday, the South Korean and North Korean leaders, Moon Jae-in and Kim Jong-un, met in the border village of Panmunjeom for a historic summit, the first in more than a decade. The two leaders signed the joint "Panmunjeom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification of the Korean Peninsula".
