President of the Swiss Council of States Filippo Lombardi has arrived in Azerbaijan.
At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Mr. Lombardi was welcomed by deputy chairman of the Azerbaijani parliament Valeh Alasgarov and other officials, AzerTAc reports.
In a brief talk with journalists at the airport, he said the visit is aimed at exploring ways of developing the relations between Swiss and Azerbaijani legislative bodies. Mr. Lombardi said the two countries enjoyed political and economic cooperation, and were also collaborating as part of international organizations. “We are keen to develop these relations,” the President of the Swiss Council of States told journalists.
He said he was visiting Azerbaijan at the right time, referring to the decision concerning the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline.
During his stay in Azerbaijan Mr. Lombardi will have several bilateral meetings with the country`s officials.
