Azerbaijan says ready for substantive talks with Armenia

Azerbaijan has repeatedly expressed its readiness to start substantive talks with Armenia in order to progress towards resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Hikmat Hajiyev told AzVision.az.

He was commenting on the Armenian foreign minister’s statement that the Azerbaijani president and Armenia’s prime minister might soon hold a meeting.

Hajiyev noted that through substantive talks Armenian troops must be withdrawn from Azerbaijani lands and IDPs must be allowed to return to their homes.

“As soon as we receive proposals about holding the meeting, media outlets will be informed,” the spokesman added.
