Prezident Ilham Aliyev receives Finnish minister for foreign trade and development

Prezident of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of Finland Anne-Mari Virolainen, the president’s press service reported.

 

The head of state said that the Finnish minister’s visit to Azerbaijan opens up a good opportunity for economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as for discussion of issues related to the growth of mutual trade turnover, and stressed that there is wide potential for this.

President Aliyev underlined the importance of cooperation in the field of transport corridor. He said that Azerbaijan is now actively investing in creating a transport link between neighboring countries and partner countries, and the country is turning into an important East-West and North-South transport corridor.

“The implementation of the North-South transport project has successfully been launched. Azerbaijan is making a lot of investments in this sphere,” the Azerbaijani leader added.

The head of state also emphasized the importance of increasing activity in the business sphere in terms of expanding economic cooperation.
