There’s very little we actually know about the eighth season of Game of Thrones, HBO keeping everything very under wraps.

Whatever happens, it seems like the Iron Bank will not feature. Mark Gatiss, who plays the organisation’s head Tycho Nestoris, has revealed he will not return for the final batch of episodes.

“I’m not in it, so I guess I survive,” the Sherlock actor tells Shortlist. “Although they might just mention offhand that I’ve had my head bitten off by a dragon off-screen or something.”

The last time we saw Gatiss on Game of Thrones, the character was settling the Iron Bank’s debt with Queen Cersei Lannister, forcing the Lannister army to sack Highgarden.

Recently, we learnt that the series will return in the first half of 2019, although no specific date has been given.

The show’s climax is set to be one of the biggest events in television history, each of the six episodes reportedly costing $15 million.

HBO already has a prequel to the show in development, which Bloys confirmed they are “hoping to go into production [with] in early ‘19.”
