Azerbaijani wrestling team comes first in European youth championship
The last four sets of awards have been played in the youth European wrestling championship in Skopje (Macedonia).
Azerbaijani wrestlers managed to win three awards.

In the category below 55 kg Ruslan Surkhayev beat opponents from Ukraine, Armenia and Poland and in the final he fought Turkey’s Nebi Uzun and gained an overwhelming victory – 5:0.

Hajimurad Omarov (66 kg) beat the fighters from France, Georgia and Germany. In the final, he fought another Turkish sportsman Selahaddin Kilichsallayan. This time the representative of Turkey won gold.

Orkhan Sharifov (84 kg) beat the Hungarian opponent but lost to the Bulgarian one in the final of 16 and fell off the fight.

Finally, Ali Magomedabirov beat the representatives of Russia and Turkey but lost to the Georgian opponent in the semifinal. Armenia’s Hamlet Abrahamyan who was easily defeated-5:0.

Our freestyle wrestlers won two silver and one bronze awards on Saturday. Thus, the national freestyle wrestling team of Azerbaijan finished the European championship with one gold, three silver and two bronze awards. The Azerbaijani national team finished first among teams outstripping Russia (53 points), Turkey (52 points) and other countries.
