Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry: ITU, other int
Azerbaijan is seriously concerned over the cooperation of the mobile operator Beeline with Artsakh Telecom, which has for long been operating in occupied territories, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hikmat Hajiyev told on April 14.

According to Hajiyev, despite numerous official requests made through diplomatic channels, Beeline has not yet put an end to its operation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.

“And a program named ‘Ryadom’, recently presented by ‘Beeline’, offers even more simplified and inexpensive calls to the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” he added.

The spokesperson said the cooperation between Beeline and Artsakh Telecom, which has been operating in occupied territories for a long time, means an illegal intervention in telecommunication space of Azerbaijan, and ultimately violation of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and internationally recognized borders.

“Beeline flagrantly violates rules and regulations of the International Telecommunication Union with this activity. This activity of Beeline runs contrary to the official position of the Russian Federation that supports and respects territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of the internationally recognized borders of Azerbaijan,” Hajiyev noted.

Moreover, it is also disrespectful toward Azerbaijani subscribers of Beeline, in terms of business ethics and corporate social responsibility, the ministry spokesman stressed.

Many mobile operators, establishing roaming relations with Artsakh Telecom basing on false information provided by Armenia’s mobile operator Armen Tel, suspended these relations after appeal of the Azerbaijani side and apologized to the Azerbaijani side.

The issue regarding Beeline will be also discussed by the International Telecommunication Union and other international organizations.
